A Moment of Honour at the House of Lords: UKILP Award for Excellence in Political and Public Life
It is with immense humility and gratitude that I share the honour of receiving the ‘Excellence in Political and Public Life’ Award from the UK India Legal Partnership (UKILP). The award ceremony took place at the iconic House of Lords, located within the historic Palace of Westminster, London—a place that embodies British heritage, democratic legacy, and constitutional wisdom.
This recognition holds deep meaning for me, not only as a personal milestone but as a tribute to the collective efforts and aspirations of the people I serve.
A Journey of Purpose and Transformation
From beginning my career as a law enforcer, evolving into a law interpreter, and now serving as a lawmaker, my professional journey has been one of continuous learning and purpose. Each phase has enriched my understanding of justice, governance, and the spirit of public service.
These roles have offered me a holistic perspective on how constitutional values can be translated into meaningful action for the people. I remain deeply grateful to the Almighty for guiding this path with purpose and integrity.
Celebrating Sarojini Nagar on a Global Stage
This award is a testament to the transformative work taking place in Sarojini Nagar, a constituency that reflects the vibrant spirit of both rural and urban India. Our developmental initiatives—cantered around digital education, women’s empowerment, and inclusive growth—have always aimed to create scalable and sustainable change.
To see these efforts acknowledged on an international platform reinforces our belief in the power of people-centric, innovative governance. It is a proud moment not just for me, but for every citizen of Sarojini Nagar who has been a part of this journey.
A Night of Eminent Company
The award ceremony was further elevated by the gracious presence of many distinguished leaders and dignitaries, including: Hon’ble Law Minister Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, Solicitor General Mr. Tushar Mehta, Lord Virendra Sharma, Lord Rami Ranger, Ms. Pinky Anand, Former Additional Solicitor General of India, Mr. Apoorva Agarwal, Additional Advocate General, Supreme Court, Justices from Dubai and Australia, Senior officials from the Government of India. It was truly humbling to be in such august company, each person bringing a legacy of contribution to law, justice, and public life.
Honouring Excellence Across Fields
The evening also celebrated the achievements of other inspiring individuals. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to: Mr. Mukul Rohatgi, Former Attorney General of India, Mr. Raian Karanjawala, Eminent Legal Luminary. In addition, a special honour was awarded to Mr. Stebin Ben, a rising young music sensation whose talent continues to inspire a new generation.
A Tribute to Collective Effort and Vision
To witness the journey of a local constituency being celebrated on an international stage is a powerful reminder of what sincere, focused public service can achieve. This recognition is not just a personal accolade, but a shared achievement of a community working together toward a common purpose.
My heartfelt thanks go to UKILP and Shri Ajit Mishra for this prestigious honour. I am also deeply grateful to everyone who has supported the mission of purpose-driven public service. Your encouragement fuels the passion to keep moving forward, with integrity and determination.
